Weekend goodies

This weekend I indulged in more Hard Candy items.  I picked up the Moon Glow highlighter which comes with the cutest hot pink, heart shaped sponge.  Love it.  As a sparkle fanatic, I am pretty satisfied with the highlighting effect of Moon Glow!

I bought Avon's makeup remover for about $1.99.  It's the best makeup remover that glides on and removes makeup without leaving a greasy residue.  I seem to fall back on this product quite often.  I just can't seem to find anything that I like best.  I also purchased Evolution of Smooth (EOS) lip balm in Summer Fruit, which smells phenomenal.  It's like a mango, peach summer explosion. Must resist urge to eat lip balm, tasty-tasty!

I have to admit that I have a crush on a grocery store.  I love Aldi.  If you aren't familiar with Aldi, it is a small food store that has low prices and off-brand items.  The food is delicious, not to mention cheap.  I don't have an Aldi store close by so when I visit my sister, I always make a special trip to Aldi.  For the makeup junkies, Aldi has a cosmetic brand, but I'm not too familiar with it aside from their  Lacura lip balms.  They have 3 different types: Sensitive, Milk & Honey and Pearl & Shine.  The lip balms are fairly inexpensive for a pack of 3 ($1.49).  To be honest the balms don't smell nor tasty too great, but they are ideal for moisturizing your lips which comes in handy in these harsh months.

My last splurge of the weekend (more like week) is a nautical necklace from Charming Charlie.  This store has every accessory imaginable by color.  It was an accessory and color overload.

Dollar Store Finds: ELF

Boy, was I excited when I found ELF's Studio line at my local Dollar Tree!  I'm obsessed with their minty lip glosses!  I have tried about 3-4 of their shades, but since they were only a dollar at my local store, I picked up some more! I have to admit that these glosses are becoming one of my favorite lippies of all time.  I love the glitter, the sheer color and that it's not too sticky.  Did I mention that they are minty and also taste sweet?  What's not to love?

I purchased the following 3 Minty Lip Glosses:
Los Angeles - a rosey mauve shade
New York City - a bright raspberry shade
Seatle - the clear gloss

I also purchased a Lip Stain, which I have been meaning to try.  I got the "Fashionista" shade, a bright dull mauvey pink.  The Lip Stain promises hours of long wear, but I shall see about that.

I'm so happy to have found Studio line products at my Dollar Tree that I may return for more!  Call me crazy, but I do go through those minty lip glosses like hot cakes!  They are refreshing and the boy certainly likes them ;D

Check out your local Dollar Tree for hidden cosmetic goodies.

CVS Mini Haul

In case ya didn't knoooow, CVS is having a sale on select beauty products.  Most items are 75% off, which is a great deal!  There's tons on sale, but you do have to be thorough in your search since sale items have a small round sticker identifying that it's on sale.

I purchased the:
Sally Hansen Prep & Prime Lipcare
Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipgloss
Covergirl Wetslicks Amazemint

I also purchased a Wet 'n Wild Felt Eyeliner Pen but it wasn't on sale.  In addition to the sale prices, I also had a 10% discount from joining CVS's new beauty reward program (all free!) and $2.00 CVS bucks.  I paid about $10 for everything ( I also got Altoids!) not too shabby! So far I am enjoying the Cover Girl Wetslicks Amazemint.  Minty lipgloss = yum!

I'm interested in comparing these two products since they promise to do the same thing.  I purchased the Sally Hansen Prep & Prime for about $2 on sale and the Too Faced Lip Insurance was $18.  I plan to utilize both and will follow up with a review.

Chinese New Year Lanterns

Happy New Year to all!  New Year's celebrations are always so festive and delightful.  I especially like the decorations for Chinese New Year's; the red, the gold, the dragons, and the intricate designs.  Celebrating the zodiac per year is also so interesting.  2011 is the year of the rabbit!  As a fellow rabbit, I'm ecstatic about celebrating my Chinese zodiac sign!

Here is a super simply craft to celebrate Chinese New Year's on Feb. 3, 2011.

 Chinese paper lanterns

Materials Needed:
Cardstock white paper
printer
exacto knife
tape
candle

To create this craft, please follow the link for the template provided by HP Creative Studio.  From there print the template, cut around the white areas and fold each lantern in half.  Unfold so your template is once again flat.  Next, using an exacto knife trace the straight lines on the template but being careful not to cut all the way through the design.  Once you have cut all the lines you will want to piece both ends of the template together and tape at the edges until your design looks like the one below. All that is left to do is to place a candle in the middle and you have yourself a lantern.

Zoya Nail Polishes

I must admit that after reading April's blog, I was sold into buying Zoya nail polishes.  I've heard others brag about the brand, but never had a chance to try it.  In celebration for their 20,000 followers on FB, Zoya is giving away 3 polishes for free (with the exception of $6.95 for shipping).  In reality you get 3 polishes that are worth $7 each, for only $6.95.  Not bad, not bad at all!

All you need to do is follow Zoya on FB and use code: FB2011 to receive any 3 polishes for free.

Here is a snap shot of the nail polishes I picked out:

I'm really excited about trying Juicy, because I don't have any dark opague magenta-purple shades.  I'm starting to really get into purple polish.  What are your current favorite nail polish colors?
