Harvesty Makeup of the Day

It has been forever since my last blog post but I have been pretty busy with personal, family and technical matters.  Everything sorta happened all at once but I am hoping to return more regularly to the blog world!

Given that we are only a few weeks away from Halloween, I decided to get into the spirit and use my orange eyeshadow.  Honestly, how many times can I wear orange and it be moderately normal?

My make-up consisted of:

Base
Too Faced - Candlelight
MAC - Beige-ing
Shadow
Glamour Doll - Orange Crush
Beauty from the Earth - Hitchcock
MAC - Vanilla Loose Powder
The rest
Urban Decay - Covet Eyeliner
Benefit - Bad Girl Lash
Maybelline - Stiletto Eyeliner in Black

Ignore my wet hair!

Just between you and me, it has been a really long time since I have gone crazy or done a full on eye look.  I had a good time, and hopefully you enjoyed my tame Halloween look.

Until next time,

Lost in Wonderland

Welcome to Wonderland, I'm seeing Redd.

I have never cared for Alice in Wonderland, but this year I have been obsessed with the character and the spin-off series.  The Looking Glass Wars is a great book that entertains the idea of Wonderland being a place of white imagination and black imagination.  It's a classic tale of good vs. evil.  The series features popular characters such as Alice, Redd, mad hatter, and the white rabbit.  Although the series is written for young adults, I had no problem enjoying the story!
I enjoyed the universe Frank Beddor created around a familiar story.  My favorite character was by far Hatter.  He was not exactly mad, but more of a killing machine.

Since Alice has been swimming around my mind this year I decide to be Alice in Wonderland for Halloween.  For those of you that don't know, I sewed my costume this year.  This is my second attempt at costumes and I have to say, I'm pretty happy and proud.  I don't care if it looks homemade, it won't shake the proud feeling that I put a few pieces of fabric and ruffle together and made a dress!

I love Halloween, but I'm not a big fan of the slutty porn star costumes.  I also don't understand why Halloween costumes are made out of the cheapest fabric but can cost so much! Although I chose a cheap fabric, cotton, at least it was good quality and didn't look cheap.

I do have to admit that I did receive some guidance from my manager aka my mother. I was under the impression that I was the only member of my personal swear shop, but I was wrong.  Apparently, I recruited a manager...and it wasn't me.  How sad is that, I'm not even the manager of my own sweat shop!  : P

Do you see the mummy?  This was the yummiest cheese.  I apologize for everyone that saw me eat about half of this thing.  It was addicting!
This cute little pig was actually made out of packaging tape and foam.  He was adorable!
Although my Halloween post is extremely late, I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful holiday.

Life in Plastic

 It's fantastic!

I <3 Halloween, but this year...I wasn't in the mood.  October came and went.  I hardly had time to get excited.  I'm a bit upset that Halloween passed me by.  Oh well!  I'm not a fan of Halloween costumes from stores (they're so cheap--the material) so I just like to use what I currently own.  Trust me, I own a lot of stuff that could pass as a costume.  Mostly, weird accessories.

This year I wanted to be Barbie, or Barbie's slightly darker haired sister.
No, I'm not Teresa.  Unfortunetly, my Halloween plans were cancelled due to Swine Flu.  Instead, I just gave out candy, carved pumpkins and went out for some Pei Wei.  I dressed up for this picture, but I removed my "costume" afterwards.  I felt silly.  No one would understand my version of Barbie and I didn't want to explain it.

Here are some photos of past costumes:

My nephew Evan(Tigger) my sister Cristina (she was some crazy Zorro cat) and myself.

note the Portuguese flag on the side.

I love Fairies.  I had braces at this point.

When I use to work with kids...We were spiders.

Can you spot me?

My sister asked me to do her makeup.  This year she wanted to be a vampire.  She borrowed the head piece and fangs from me.  As I said, I own a lot of...stuff.

She looks good, right?  A little scarry.

She asked me to make her a "happy" vampire...I don't believe there is such a thing.  Happy vampire.  Oxy moron?

I used the Revlon foundation on her.  Isn't that insanely pale?  That's my shade!  I contoured her cheeks using purple eyeshadow.  I also gave her a sexy smokey eye look.  She's wearing dramatic lashes with red rhinestones.  To top off the look, I used So Scarlette from Mac.  I <3 that shade.  I wish I could wear it more often.

My sister looked like a sexy vampire...even if she's kinda didn't want to photograph as one (I harassed her for a pic).

I AM....Robin HOOD!

This past Sunday I went to the Rennaisance festival.  I love Renn fest!  I've been going since I was 16 years old, and every year since then it has been a blast.  I'm a fan of anything "historical" so of course, I would love the renn rest.  The first year at the festival I fell in love with the magical environment, the costumes, the shows, well...just about everything.

However, it was only until last year that I decided to dress up in costume.  I really wanted to save up for a fancy costume but those cost around $200-500+.  So I settled on being part of the "low class" costumes. Haha.

My friend Jeff and I were both Robin Hood.  I was the cooler one though :D

This is an awkward photo. lol.

Speaking of awkward...there are sooo many boobs at the renn fest.  That's so weird to say, but there is sooo much CLEVAGE.  Women put their goods on display.  They even tuck money in between the goods.  It's hilarious!

Mermaid Eyes

Once when I was little I dreamed of being a mermaid. How awesome would that be? Splashing around, swimming, brushing your hair with a fork. Wait. That's the little mermaid. Mermaids would have to be my other favorite mythical creature..aside from fairies. This look is so precious and girly. This was a very fun, colorful eyeshadow look.
stuff used:
  • Too Faced Shadow Insurance
  • NYX Eyeshadow pencil in purple
  • 88 pallette
  • UD 24/7 eyeliner in electric
  • ELF eyeliner black
  • Maybelline Lash Stiletto Mascara
  • ELF Facial whip
  • Avon looking glass lilac lipstick
  • Mac lipglass in fast friends
  • ELF lashes
  • Snazarro paints for seashell

Simple Fairy Look

I absolutely love fairies. I realize now that I forgot an essential item in this look. GLITTER! How did it slip my mind? It's a crime to forget glitter.

This is by far the easiest way to be a fairy for Halloween. It involves just 2 colors for the eyeshadow, and a few swirls on the face.

If you are interested I used:
  • Mac bare canvas paint
  • Nyx strawberry milk e/s pencil
  • L'oreal Hip e/s in Fiery
  • BFTE e/s Grape
  • 88 palette (red, white shimmer, pinkish shimmer)
  • Revlon Liquid Eyeliner pen
  • ELF black eyeliner
  • Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara
  • Nyx lipstick in Eros
  • Visine
  • Stencil

As you can see I loooove dressing up as a fairy. They are my favorite mythical creature. What is your favorite mythical creature?

I'm the green.....err red fairy

I found my fairy skirt from high school. It still fits! Although it really consists of red stretchy shorts the red fabric is stiched to the band of the shorts. It's not stretchy so I had to wiggle into it.

I'm not sure what I will be for halloween this year. I'm not a fan of buying costumes...they are so expensive. I usually try to piece something together from my closet or roam the thrift stores for something. I'm thinking robin hood for this year. All I need is green tights or leggings.
